Dealers are seeing a big increase in the sale of minor damage insurance as a profitable add-on product.
Over the last two years, sales have risen by 30% and according to Smart Insurance, who have over a third market share of UK dealer sales, the upward trend is set to continue.
“The last two years were our best on record” says Smart Managing Director Mark Boote. “The UK market is really warming to this product and our research shows that for consumers it’s an easy to understand and desirable product.
“This aids the sales process for a product that can be introduced and sold on the same day. Our dealer partners also report that selling minor damage insurance is a boost to the add-on mix, contributing well to IPRU.
“Over the next 12 months we will continue to grow our dealer support staff, particularly on the training and sales support side, as well as increasing our Shine! fleet of mobile repair units. We remain the only minor damage insurer to have our own directly employed mobile repair technicians rather than rely on sub-standard franchise operations.”
